Welcome to Kris Corcoran Counselling

Hello, and welcome. I’m Kris Corcoran, a qualified Integrative Counsellor offering neurodivergent-affirming counselling for adults and young people aged 16 and over, both in Bedfordshire and online across the UK.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, anxious, low in mood, or disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’ve spent years masking, overthinking, trying to “keep up,” or feeling different without fully understanding why. You may identify as autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, questioning whether you might be neurodivergent, or supporting a neurodivergent child or family member.

Therapy can feel difficult when you’ve had experiences of feeling misunderstood, pressured to fit in, or unable to fully be yourself. I offer a calm, supportive, and confidential space where you do not need to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have all the answers.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access support. Many people I work with are exploring neurodivergence, questioning long-standing patterns in their lives, or trying to better understand themselves and their experiences.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible, grounded in curiosity, respect, and genuine care. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches so that our work can adapt to you rather than expecting you to adapt to therapy.

Together, we’ll work at your pace to explore your experiences, understand patterns that may be contributing to overwhelm or distress, and help you reconnect with yourself in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.

About Me

I believe we all benefit from having a space where we can speak openly and honestly somewhere free from judgement, pressure, or the feeling that we need to explain or justify who we are.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or carrying a sense that life feels harder than it seems to for other people. Perhaps you’ve spent years masking, overthinking, people-pleasing, or trying to meet expectations while quietly struggling underneath. You may be exploring whether you are autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent, or trying to make sense of a recent diagnosis either for yourself or someone close to you.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over two decades working in corporate environments, so I understand the impact that pressure, constant demands, burnout, and navigating complex social dynamics can have on our wellbeing. Running my own business has also given me insight into responsibility, balance, and the realities of modern life.

My experience includes supporting young adults in educational settings, alongside working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. I have a particular focus on supporting neurodivergent clients, including those who are questioning or exploring this part of themselves. My understanding in this area has developed through professional experience, ongoing learning, research, and close personal connection within my own family.

At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to “fix” you, but to work alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and respect as you make sense of your experiences and discover what helps you feel more grounded, authentic, and connected to yourself.

How I Work

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred and psychodynamic theories to create a way of working that reflects your individual needs, experiences, and ways of processing the world.

I understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, particularly for neurodivergent people who may have previously felt misunderstood, overwhelmed, or expected to fit into approaches that did not feel natural or supportive.

Together, we can explore what feels most helpful for you, whether that’s understanding patterns in relationships, exploring past experiences, processing emotions, navigating burnout or overwhelm, or finding ways to live more sustainably and authentically.

I see the counselling relationship as central to the process, a collaborative space where you can feel heard, accepted, and able to be yourself without pressure to mask or perform. We will work at your pace, in a way that feels safe, meaningful, and manageable for you.
